What Are You Struggling With?
You’re here because you feel overwhelmed, anxious, confused, and/or stuck. Maybe your stress levels are at max volume, making you feel irritable and unprepared. Your mental health may be deteriorating, and your relationships—especially those with your parents—are probably experiencing some growing pains. It’s possible you’re relying on your friends more and more for the validation you can’t seem to find elsewhere.
If you’re beginning to date or explore your sexuality, you may feel preoccupied by aspects of your romantic life. Maybe you can’t get anything done because you’re constantly communicating with a love interest or dwelling over the fact that they haven’t texted you back. If you are newly questioning your gender and sexual identity, the process of figuring out what you want out of your relationships may feel especially daunting.
At Care Concepts Therapy, our therapists are passionate about working with young adults as they navigate their identity, connections, and plans for the future. In learning more about what you want to grow into—and what you want to leave behind—we can chart a path forward that makes sense for your life.

Young Adults Today Face Unprecedented Challenges In An Unprecedented World
Growing up has always been a long process that presents its fair share of obstacles. But for today’s young adults, there are certain barriers that previous generations simply didn’t have to grapple with. The world seems to be increasingly chaotic, and it can be difficult to stay grounded in the face of so much economic, political, and global uncertainty.
All of this stress is amplified by the fact that we have more access to information than ever. As a young adult in this day and age, you’ve probably only known life with the internet at your fingertips and with social media as your main outlet for connecting with others. The snapshots of a “perfect” life you see on there are no doubt curated, but those images nevertheless trigger feelings of shame and inadequacy, making you feel like you’re falling behind or incapable of achieving your goals.
Therapy Can Help
Our young adult clients come to counseling feeling overly burnt out and spread thin. The constant stream of information they’re exposed to is overwhelming, causing them to feel like they’re being pulled in a thousand different directions at once and unable to make clear decisions. They are often interpreting many conflicting messages at once.
Therapy can help to quiet that noise. Working alongside a therapist who will center this process around your needs, strengths, and goals, you can create a life that feels fulfilling and authentic to the person you want to be.
At Care Concepts Therapy, We Are Passionate About Working With Young Adult Clients On The Path To Self-Discovery
Our affirming, culturally aware services are available to clients of all backgrounds and experiences. While the process is highly individualized to the needs of each teen/young adult we work with in counseling, some of the common issues our therapists treat include:
Anxiety, stress, and overwhelm
Relationship conflict and codependence issues
Feelings of hopelessness, despair, and inadequacy
Academic/career performance and goals
Identity questioning
ADHD and challenges with executive functioning
Using early sessions to gain a better understanding of the ins and outs of your world—your history, relationships, and values—we can begin to get an idea of what’s working for you and what’s not. As we identify core issues and goals for therapy, we will incorporate the necessary skills and perspectives for working toward a future that excites you.

What To Expect In Counseling
We want to help you feel better right now while also arming you with techniques for overcoming future hurdles. Before getting too deep into the tough stuff, our therapists will ensure that you have a proper coping toolkit in place, which may include grounding strategies and quick fixes for when you’re spiraling into anxiety or stress mode.
From there, we can go deeper in understanding the why behind some of your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. Using aspects of Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), we can create a container for difficult emotions and memories so that they don’t affect you so negatively. Cultivating a Calm Place where you can turn to both in and out of the counseling space, you can feel a stronger sense of resilience and control when navigating the many stressors coming your way as a young adult.
This time in life is so often confusing, lonely, and straight-up exhausting—but therapy gives you a transformational opportunity to find out more about who you are and what you want moving forward. Our therapists have worked with so many older teens and young adults in counseling who have been exactly where you are, but we’ve helped them figure out how to manage those feelings and get to a happier place. We know that, through this process, it’s possible to tune out all the noise and tap into a place of calm and clarity.
Common Questions Young Adult Clients Have Before Starting Therapy…
What if I’m not sure I even need therapy?
It’s definitely hard to figure out when therapy is necessary and how to get started. Stress, anxiety, and relational conflict are normal aspects of growing into adulthood, and sometimes these things can be resolved without professional help.
That said, therapy can be a really beneficial tool for just about any major transition or question you’re grappling with. If you’ve tried to work things out on your own without luck, if you’ve lost motivation to keep working toward a solution, or if you don’t feel like you’re getting the support you need, then it might be time to consider reaching out. And keep in mind that we offer a free consultation for older teens and young adults considering counseling so you can get an idea of how counseling will be beneficial.
I am so busy as is—how can I possibly commit to therapy?
Our practice understands that a lot of our young adult clients have to juggle school, work, relationships, and other responsibilities, which is why we aim to make therapy as accessible as possible. Not only do we offer flexible scheduling for appointments Monday through Friday, we also offer online options for clients who can’t or don’t prefer to attend in-person sessions.
We know that the prospect of therapy can feel overwhelming, but trust us when we tell you that this experience is designed to create more space in your life as you learn to manage your time, stress levels, and path toward your goals.
How much will my parents be involved in the counseling process?
All clients, regardless of age, are entitled to privacy and respect throughout counseling—after all, this process only works if a trusted therapeutic relationship is in place. While there are certain limits to confidentiality for clients under 18, we will make sure you and your parents are clear on those terms and that they will be involved only to an extent that feels appropriate and productive.
If you’re over 18, parental involvement is entirely up to you. If there is something you’d like to address with your parents in the counseling space, we can include them. Or if you just want therapy to be your own time and space, that’s fine too. You are in the driver’s seat of this process and our job as therapists is to support you in heading toward the direction of your choosing.
