Meet-Alissa-Fernandez-Bell

Hi! I’m Alissa

I help teens, young adults and college students navigate feeling stuck, figuring out their futures and understanding their emotions so they can feel empowered to have the future they want. Personally, I went through some challenging times in my later teen/young adult years where I was in my client’s shoes. I understand what it feels like to feel defeated, stressed, and unsure of what to do. Together, we can give you the clarity you have been searching for. You deserve to be excited about the future, not scared, and I am excited to show you how to get there. My work is dedicated to coming alongside teens and young adults as they navigate working through trauma, feeling overwhelmed, reactive, or frustrated with themselves and others. I have a deep passion for partnering with people in figuring out how to move forward without the chains of the past weighing them down.

Partnering in Healing

Trust is essential for therapy to be successful. I work hard to build a strong foundation of trust, cultivate a judgment free environment, and get to know you as a whole person. I take sessions at the pace you’re comfortable with, creating goals together and checking in over time to ensure we are on the path to progress. I believe therapy should be the place where you can come just as you are and feel heard, understood, and challenged to experience new results in your life.

With trust and support cultivated, I help clients figure out how to untangle and unwind the past to understand the present. I partner with people to find renewed confidence and peace in daily life. Sometimes this comes with learning new ways to cope, how to regulate intense emotions, different communication styles, how to hold boundaries, and how to forgive. I’d be honored to accompany you on this journey of healing.

My Professional Journey

I’m an Associate Clinical Social Worker who uses empathy, compassion, and curiosity to meet people where they’re at. I hold a deep fondness for others and am sincerely invested in seeing them succeed. I obtained my Master’s Degree in Social Work from Azusa Pacific University, where my year-long capstone leadership project received first place among the projects of my graduating class. I completed this degree during the pandemic & while parenting my daughter.

My background includes providing individual therapy for college students and adults. I am trained in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) and tailor therapy to my client’s specific needs. I integrate various treatment modalities to fit one’s needs that include (but are not limited to) Parts Work, Mindfulness, Somatic Work, Cognitive Behavior Therapy, and Dialectical Behavior Therapy. Additionally I have experience in teaching teens in public high school, and guiding pregnant/postpartum women and couples through the beginning stages of their journey as parents.
